The Department of Economics was established in 2021 and the first programme opened within the department was the master's programme with thesis. In 2022, the doctoral programme was opened. Our department started its education and training activities by admitting students to the master's programme with thesis as of the autumn semester of 2021-2022. Our department continues its activities in Hopa Campus. As of the spring semester of 2022-2023, there are 33 students in the master's programme with thesis and 1 student in the doctoral programme.

Master's Programme with Thesis

In the master's programme with thesis, it is aimed to train students as science experts who are equipped with the theory and methodology, who are able to develop their knowledge and experience in the field, gain analysis and evaluation skills, conduct academic studies in the field within the framework of scientific ethical rules. Graduates of our master's programme with thesis have the opportunity to work in various public institutions and private sectors with the title of "science expert".

Doctorate Programme

In the PhD programme of our department, it is aimed to train scientists who have the ability to reveal the social and regional dynamics of economic developments and to examine them in depth, who have the ability to read, write and analyse texts within the framework of scientific ethical rules, who can collect data from the field and process the data scientifically and systematically, who can make theory-based explanations about current economic events, who have gained the awareness of working in cooperation with different disciplines and who can carry out original studies. Students who graduate from the doctoral programme of our department have the title of "doctor" and have the opportunity to work in various public and private sectors, including other higher education institutions.
